Since starting the blog I had been contemplating actually doing anything with Stumbleupon or not because the results had been terrible when I tried it become. In terms of traffic, it works wonders, and you can get thousands of uniques per day using it. The question is does this traffic convert into sales/clicks? In my study I will try and figure that out and if tagging and categories really make that much of a difference.
Here is the results so far in about three hours. Not surprising but I am anticipating a crazy bounce rate.
Sphinn is a community based popularity site designed specifically for webmasters. On first impression it looks to be a very well designed site with a good following. The best part is that the majority of Sphinns visitors are going to be into marketing, search engine optimization, and building traffic. The same topics that this blog is about. Therefore I joined and hope that it can bring more traffic. If there is a post that you found helpful hit the “Sphinn It” button at the top of each post and help me reach the Hot Topics. It will be interesting to see just what kinda of traffic it will bring but the conversion rate should be very suprising and should bring a great deal of repeat visitors.
Search engine marketing is a form of promoting a website or product using Search Engine Opimization (SEO), paid inclusion (i.e. Directories), and pay per click marketing. The whole goal behind using each of them is to improve the search engine positions for the keywords being promoted. Search Engine Optimization is a wide spread obsession among webmasters. Everyone wants to get more natural traffic from the search engines, and in order to do they they are competing for the number one spot for their desired keywords. Of course the more times that keyword is searched for every month the more traffic it will bring to the highest ranked websites. Having a high number of incoming is one of the biggest factors that search engines take into account when determining what position to put the site at. That is the reason that everyone wants high quality websites linking to them.
With all of the original posts that I have made so far it would only make sense that the search engines would reward me for it with great rankings! Google has already picked up my Best Free Blog Templates post and I have been receiving some natural traffic each day. Keep in mind I never submitted this to Digg or anywhere like that. The one that I did submit to Digg has not gotten any natural traffic yet. Here are the reasons I think Google liked that one in particular:
