Toward the middle of February I had been thinking to myself it seems to be about that time of year for the Google Pagerank update. While I am not all that crazy about PR like I used to be it still adds value and shows that I am doing a good job with my linkbuilding. According to the PR Checker Tool that I used from SmartPageRank I am a PageRank 3. I was hoping for a 4 or 5 and hopefully it is still fluctuating and will end up getting me that. I encourage everyone to check the Pagerank of their sites and leave me a comment if you have seen any changes yet.
Google describes PageRank: “PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important”.
Listed below is some really useful information that I found to help explain pagerank. I also suggest you check out their Pagerank Calculation chart to estimate how many links you will need to achieve the PR you desire.
Now the Google PageRank algorithm is not a walk in the park to grasp, breaking down the factors that Google looks for can help. Here is a list of things that could help boost you Google PageRank, with a rating scale beside it of how important I believe it is.
Google Pagerank is not something that can be figured out with a simple equation. It is very complex and debated endlessly how to get the sought after PR 10. Just showing the Pagerank calculations would confuse most people that are not math majors. If anyone wants to take a look at it I suggest checking out the complete algorithm here, there is a complete explanation of the Pagerank equation that is used to calculate it.
Google PageRank was developed at Standford University by Larry Page, and Sergery Brin. This was part of a research project for these two individuals. The project was started in 1995 and then was led to a functional prototype. In 1998, Google was founded.

Been a while since my last post and I am going to attempt to get back on track for the new year now. If you did not get the chance be sure to read my money making goals for the new year which outlines my plan for 2008.
Blogging takes dedication, something which everyone needs to succeed. A great example would be my post about the 5 reasons why the top bloggers are successful where I outlined some of the most important aspects of making a great blog. The hardest part for me has been time. It takes about an hour to make a solid post and even longer if I have to do research beforehand. It is worth it in the long run to make these posts but short term the results are minimal. Once the search engines pick up the content it is a nice boost though. Plan a free day for blogging. This is something that I am going to do for the new year. Mass produce some high quality content and see how it ends up.
Case studies and lists seem to be the popular posts on my blog. They are easy for the readers to follow and in the example of case studies, give them a reason to come back. That will be one of my areas of focus for the new year, increasing RSS subscriptions. I tried not to pay attention to it during the early stages of the blog and instead I wanted to produce lots of content! Between RSS and Technorati I should be able to bring the popularity of this blog to new heights and even make some great friends while doing it.
Advertising is going to be my main focus for this month. It is important to secure some relationships with people that are looking to promote their web based products and want more exposure to the webmaster community. Up until this point advertising and promotion have not been much of a goal either but not anymore! As I secure more advertising relationships and build a better reader base I will have no choice but to make more posts daily and have them on important topics that all the webmasters want to read.
This year I want to post more on the following subjects:
Affiliate Marketing
Search Engine Optimization Techniques
Free Ways To Build Traffic
PPC Reviews and Tutorials
SEO Services
Wordpress Plugins and Templates

Adsense seems to be one of the trickiest advertising programs and most webmaster blogs devote an entire section just for discuss about it. In order to make the most money using Adsense the website needs have top notch search engine optimization and target the right keywords. I will use my Proxy Growth and Earnings Experiment to demonstrate how to optimize websites efficiently with Adsense.
Each proxy I am targeting a different keyword and blocked Iran and China so it they will not become smartpriced. Since these proxies are each four months old they aged and already indexed in the search engines which is helping bring the natural traffic back already.
I want to build a steady steam of traffic which is the most important part of a proxy while staying within my web hosting plan that I am at. Tomorrow I will go over the various ways to promote a proxy with general tips that any webmaster will find helpful, some that most may have never even thought of!

In order to practice my search engine optimization and because proxies do not require a great deal of money to start up I decided to create some proxies for my December project. When I owned some in the past I was ranked real well on Google for competitive terms such as unblock myspace and myspace proxy. Right now I have to look for a proxy host and most likely will need a dedicated server. These sites pull in big bucks once they get big and I have been able to get a higher CTR then with most of my other sites. Will update this with more details when I set it up!
If you have never seen a proxy before check out this great lists of free proxies.

About half way into the month I began a SEO Case Study to build the most backlinks and popularity out of the blog in a short period of time. Here are the results from the study. To build backlinks I did a combination of directory submissions, blogroll exchanges, and submitted to a bunch of blog related websites. Although I did not meet most of my results they were pretty difficult and I came close on most of them. I could have done a bit more work on the Technorati rank which I spent almost no time with since it should go up naturally as people link to the blog.
